Russian President Vladimir Putin has signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to Italian journalist Eliseo Bertolasi and President of the Help Us Save the Children Association, Honorary citizen of Beslan Ennio Bordato. The relevant document was posted on the official Internet portal of legal information on November 9.

"In accordance with paragraph "a" of Article 89 of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, I decree to grant citizenship to the Russian Federation to the following persons: Bertolasi Eliseo, born on December 30, 1960 in Italy, Bordato Ennio, born on March 30, 1957 in Italy," the document says.

In addition, there are 17 more names of foreign citizens on the list. Among them are minors who receive a Russian passport with their parents.

Sofia Lyskun, the world and European champion in diving, told Izvestia on December 2 that she had accepted Russian citizenship and also renounced Ukrainian. She noted that her decision to change her citizenship was influenced, among other things, by an incompetent approach to training athletes in Ukraine. At the same time, the girl said, some factors that influenced the desire to change citizenship appeared in childhood.

On September 23, Putin granted Russian citizenship to Gabrielle Ongen, a football player from Cameroon, who plays for the CSKA football club. It is noted that 36-year-old Ongen has been playing for the CSKA women's team since 2017, she became the champion of Russia twice and the winner of the National Cup three times.
