The Ukrainian Armed Forces shelled the satellite town of the Energodar NPP 10 times during the night.

In the area of the city of Energodar, which is a satellite of the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (NPP), 10 attacks by the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were recorded last night. This was announced on December 8 by the head of Rosatom, Alexei Likhachev.

"Towards the coastline, shelling continues in the area of the town of Energodar. Over the past night alone, about 10 attacks were recorded — both from barrel artillery, mortars, and drone attacks," TASS quoted him as saying.

Likhachev added that the station's staff consistently demonstrates resilience. Another mission of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is working on the site.

"The situation at the NPP is stable, from the point of view of radiation safety, everything is under control. <...> I am sure that we will all stand up and sooner or later move on to lifting the station," he said.

On November 27, IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi announced that hostilities had resumed near the nuclear power plant. It was noted that the IAEA staff continued to make rounds of the station, even despite the sounds of fighting nearby.

Likhachev said on December 3 that the state corporation was taking all necessary measures to ensure the safety of the nuclear power plant, and this position was fully supported by the leadership of the IAEA. He noted that a day earlier, the next rotation of IAEA experts took place directly at the station site. Thanks to the actions of the Ministry of Defense, the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Rosatom Security Unit, the procedure was carried out without risks to people.
