Chinese car brands Geely and GAC may leave the Russian market if their models are not localized in the country in the first half of 2026. This was stated by Svetlana Vinogradova, CEO of Rolf. This was reported by TASS on December 8.

"The main issue is the localization of Geely and GAC. They have a significant market share, and the brands are in demand among Russians. We do not exclude that these brands will leave the Russian market if they do not start localization during the first half of 2026," the agency quotes the words from the car dealer's presentation.

At the same time, Vinogradova predicts that two or three new Chinese car brands may also appear on the Russian market in 2026.

Rolf's presentation notes that in 2026, the share of parallel imports of new passenger cars in the Russian Federation may fall to 4%. The reason is China's export restrictions, which are the source of 80-85% of such shipments.

Currently, Geely models in Russia are gradually being replaced by analogues under the Belgee brand, which are produced in Belarus. So, in early December, it became known that Geely had withdrawn the Emgrand sedan from sale in Russia, the model had already dropped out of the line on the brand's official website. The Chinese sedan was replaced by the Belgee S50, which went on sale in September. Earlier, according to the same principle, Coolray and Atlas Pro crossovers were dropped from the Geely line in Russia, which were replaced by the Belgee X50 and X70.

In March of this year, Pavel Nikiforov, Head of Sales Development at GAC Motor Russia, told Izvestia that GAC was negotiating with a number of local manufacturers and was in the process of discussing the site.

Earlier, on December 5, it was reported that the certification process for three new models of the revived domestic brand Volga had begun in Russia. The cars are based on cars from the Chinese company Geely.
