A court in Moscow has detained MMA fighter Zaur Ismailov, who is accused of desecrating a monument to veterans of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. This was announced on December 8 by the Moscow prosecutor's office.

"The person involved in the criminal case on the desecration of the monument to the veterans of the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations has been taken into custody," the department's Telegram channel says.

It is specified that during the court session, the defendant objected to the choice of a preventive measure in the form of arrest. The investigation of the criminal case is under the control of the Prosecutor's Office.

On December 5, a criminal case was opened against the defendant after the publication of a video showing a man training at the memorial. It was noted that Ismailov posted a video in which he imitates punches and kicks at a statue of a child in Dmitry Mikhailik Square in Moscow. On December 6, the man was detained.
