VKKS allowed to open a case against the ex-chairman of the Rostov court
The Higher Qualification Board of Judges (HCCC) has agreed to initiate criminal proceedings against the former chairman of the Sovetsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don, Elena Kobleva. This was reported on December 8 by a correspondent of Izvestia.
The investigation intends to charge her with seven counts of receiving large—scale bribes and one of especially large-scale bribes. In addition, she faces articles on obstruction of justice (three episodes) and knowingly unlawful sentencing.
According to the press service of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, Kobleva is already a defendant in another criminal case and is in custody. The decision of the HCCC makes it possible to expand her criminal prosecution.
On December 6, it was reported that in St. Petersburg, the head of the correctional colony was detained in a case of receiving a bribe. It was noted that the defendant had agreed with a convict serving a sentence in a penal colony for organizing contract killings so that he would create unfavorable conditions for other convicts, forcing them to pay bribes for non-detection of violations.
