As a result of the accident at CHPP-9 in Angarsk, an emergency regime was introduced. This was reported to Izvestia on December 8 by the press service of the Angarsk City District administration.

"A state of emergency has been introduced in Angarsk due to an accident at a thermal power plant. An hour ago, the mayor [Sergey Petrov] held an emergency meeting, and in the morning he was with the power engineers at the CHP plant," the press service said.

According to forecasts of power engineers, stabilization will occur in the next 36 hours. It is specified that pupils of six schools were transferred to distance learning, and five kindergartens did not accept children.

The press service added that at the moment, backup boilers are used at the CHPP, monitoring is carried out every two hours.

The governor of the Irkutsk region, Igor Kobzev, announced on December 7 that as a result of the accident at the CHPP-9 in Angarsk, the temperature in more than 1.5 thousand houses was lowered. He noted that one boiler had been taken out of service for repairs.
