The Central Bank of the Russian Federation plans to oblige credit institutions to link individual taxpayer numbers (INN) of clients to bank accounts. This was announced on December 8 by Olga Polyakova, Deputy Chairman of the Bank of Russia.

According to her, this is necessary to combat droppery, as the INN will become the customer's identifier in the system. She added that the innovation is necessary for the operation of the Antidrop platform, which is scheduled to be launched in 2027.

"If earlier there was no mandatory requirement for banks to set the client's INN as a mandatory account number, then we will introduce such a requirement — both when opening a new account and for those accounts that were opened earlier," she said in an interview with RBC.

Lamiya Mammadova, an expert at the RUDN University Faculty of Economics, said on November 27 that due to increased measures against fraudsters and the requirements of the Central Bank for operational risk management, banks began updating limits on cash withdrawals at ATMs. Now, in case of suspicious activity, the bank can limit the cash withdrawal to 50 thousand rubles.
