The 3I/ATLAS object, which is often referred to as an "alien ship," may have two tails. This was announced on December 7 by Avi Loeb, a scientist from Harvard University, in his blog.

The astronomer pointed to the rotation gradient map of the new 3I/ATLAS image. The image shows signs of two streams emanating from the object, including the anti-tail, which stretches for more than 60 thousand km towards the Sun.

The scientist also spoke about the unusual characteristics of the 3I/ATLAS anti-tail, explaining that during perihelion its direction changed relative to the usual movement of the object. Loeb added that such a phenomenon is not observed in known comets.
