The special envoy of the American leader Donald Trump, Steven Witkoff, organized a meeting in New York between representatives of the United States, Qatar and Israel to restore relations after the unsuccessful Israeli strike on Doha. This was reported on December 7 by the Axios portal, citing sources.

"This is the highest-level meeting between the countries since the signing of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza, for which Qatar acted as a key mediator. This is happening at a time when the Trump administration is preparing to announce that the peace process in Gaza is entering a new phase," the publication says.

The Israeli side will be represented by the head of Mossad intelligence, David Barnea, while Qatar will be represented by a senior official whose identity has not been clarified. According to the portal, the trilateral meeting will focus more on the implementation of the peace agreement in Gaza, in particular on the disarmament of the Palestinian Hamas movement and a number of other issues related to the transition to the second phase of the deal.

On November 3, Trump expressed confidence that the Palestinian-Israeli conflict would be resolved, but doubted that it would happen according to the two-state model. The American leader also noted that the Palestinian Hamas movement will be destroyed if necessary, and the movement itself knows this.

On November 29, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a return to observing the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip after a series of attacks on dozens of targets of Palestinian radical movements. According to the IDF, the attacks were directed against the command level of the groups operating in the area.
