On December 7, the head of the Association of Italian Entrepreneurs in Russia, Vittorio Torrembini, at an event dedicated to the Rainbow Literary Prize, said that due to sanctions, Europe buys energy resources three times more expensive than in Russia.

"The energy resources that Europe is currently buying are three times more expensive than those bought in Russia," RIA Novosti quoted Torrembini as saying.

Yesterday, US Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said that from 2022 to 2024, European countries spent more on buying Russian gas than on helping Ukraine.

Prior to that, on December 3, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that the EU could lose its leading potential in the economy due to the abandonment of Russian gas and would depend on energy sources that cost more.

On October 17, the co-chairman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, Tino Cavalla, said that Germany needs to return to using Russian gas and repair the Nord Stream gas pipelines. In addition, the AfG co-chairman pointed out that Germany currently has the most expensive electricity in Europe, which is why many entrepreneurs refuse to locate production facilities in the country.
