13 people involved in the coup attempt have been detained in Benin. Among the detainees are 12 soldiers who participated in the seizure of national television, and one former soldier who was previously expelled from the army. This was announced on December 7 by Actualites229 on the social network page X (ex. Twitter).

"According to the latest information, 13 people were detained after the foiled coup attempt, 12 of them were participants in the storming of the [national TV channel] this Sunday, and another was a former serviceman who was expelled from the army," the publication says.

According to the newspaper, it was these individuals who stormed the office of the national television channel, where the rebels issued a statement about the removal of President Patrice Talon, the suspension of the constitution and the termination of the activities of political parties.

The 24 Heures au Benin newspaper reported on the same day that the Benin Republican Guard had detained a group of soldiers who had announced an attempted coup on national television in the morning.
