- The United States reported on EU attempts to convince Zelensky not to withdraw troops from Donbass
European countries are trying to convince Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky not to withdraw troops from the territory of Donbass, as required by Russia as part of a possible ceasefire agreement. This was reported by Bloomberg on December 7.
"Europe's main goal is to avoid a situation where a wounded Zelensky will be forced, under pressure from the United States, to withdraw troops from Donbass and agree to a deal without any serious American security guarantees," the article says.
European officials believe that making peace with the withdrawal of troops and the absence of guarantees allegedly "will not be a just peace."
The Independent newspaper reported on December 6 that British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, Macron and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz will meet with Zelensky in London on December 8. It was noted that negotiations between representatives of the United States and Ukraine regarding the settlement of the conflict would be discussed during the meeting.
French President Emmanuel Macron met with Zelensky on December 6 and said he had shared with him the results of international discussions. At the same time, the French leader did not disclose other details of the conversation with Zelensky.
