Nine people were killed and seven others injured in traffic accidents in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China in the northwest of the country. The collisions occurred sequentially on two sections of the G30 Lianhuo expressway, with a distance of about 1 km between them, with a total of 12 cars colliding. This was reported on December 7 by the Chinese Xinhua news agency.

"At the time of the accident, fog suddenly thickened in the area, and the air temperature at night in winter was below 0 degrees, as a result of which the road surface became slippery and icy for a short time," the publication says.

The injured were hospitalized. It is also reported that public security, fire protection and health services were immediately organized in the nearest settlements, who rushed to the scene to carry out emergency rescue operations. The causes of the accident are being investigated and the consequences are being eliminated.

On December 6, the Franceinfo media company reported that a car with an intoxicated driver in the French city of Saint-Anne drove into a food truck and hit a crowd of people who were nearby at a Christmas market. It is noted that 27 people, including seven children, were injured in the incident. The 45-year-old driver of the car was soon detained. Narcotic substances and alcohol were found in his samples.
