In a secret location, engineers and tankers of the South group of forces manually create protective structures against unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). On December 7, soldiers of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation told Dmitry Zimenkin, military commander of Izvestia, about their work.

The perfect operation of a tank in modern combat operations is no longer possible without special protection, whether it is the so—called "brazier" or the "medusa" type.

"This is the first base going — a metal frame made of thick-walled metal. Next, we weld the mesh and all this at a certain distance. We try to close them to provide additional protection. These can be cables, like in the medusa type, nets, anything that is possible," says the deputy commander of the 89th tank division repair company of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps with the call sign Columbus.

Protection "porcupine" is the "latest fashion" in our garage military industrial complex, it is created from steel cables. A "bristling" tank, for example, the enemy M113 APC — the AFU militants copied Russian know-how — is extremely difficult to destroy. They're hitting him, and he keeps driving on.

"This is an ordinary cable, there are a lot of mines here, it costs nothing. The old, rusty one is lying around. It is welded and the drone goes like this, the screw catches, and the jet goes away. It may disperse and not break through the side. Cheap and angry," says the master of the repair company of the 89th tank division of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps with the call sign Korean.

The advantage of the porcupine protection over the same tsar mangalami is the good visibility and mobility of the tank turret. Although some people call the injury risk of fluffed cables for infantry a disadvantage. But combat vehicles with this type of protection do not go on the attack, but more often work from closed points. The retractable transformer cage is assembled and removed, ensuring the "survivability" of the tanks.

"It's crashing in here, and the cumulative jet is already being lost here. And here's the result — it didn't strike," said the senior driver of the 89th tank division of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps with the call sign Mekhan.

Engineers do not forget about the Russian UAV operators, creating spikes for them to drop against the wheeled vehicles of the Ukrainian militants. It is also surprising that the craftsmen have independently developed a machine on which, right in the garage, without waiting for supplies, they grind out parts for combat vehicles. It saves a lot of time.

"We are restoring the worn discs of the main clutch, that is, the tank clutch. Minor repairs as soon as possible," says a welder from the 89th tank division of the 6th Motorized Rifle Division of the 3rd Army Corps with the call sign Fedyai.

The Russian Armed Forces are also advancing due to the engineering thinking of front-line engineers. Thanks to them, over 700 square kilometers of territory were liberated last month, which was the best result over the past year.

On December 6, a senior sapper of the North group of forces with the call sign Palych said that Russian sappers were using fishing rods to mine mines. He explained how fishing gear is used: he decomposed the explosive, hung it on the hook, lowered it, moved to a safe distance and eliminated it.
