Corporal Nikita Kharlamov, taking over the main enemy fire on the line of contact, helped his colleagues gain a foothold in the firing position in order to hold it further. This was announced on December 7 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The corporal received a combat mission together with the group to occupy a tactically important height, oust the enemy and gain a foothold in a firing position for its further defense. The group, having conducted reconnaissance, imperceptibly approached the enemy position at a sufficient distance.

Kharlamov used small arms to eliminate a serviceman of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), without giving him the opportunity to open fire. Then, while the corporal was distracting the main enemy forces, the comrades-in-arms bypassed the militants' fortification from the flank and quickly broke into position, engaging in close combat.

The group quickly gained a foothold at an altitude that was an excellent observation post, began conducting reconnaissance and transmitting information about the movement of personnel and equipment of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to the command post.

On the same night, the enemy attempted to regain the lost advantageous position. The corporal promptly revealed the nationalists' plan and joined the battle, destroying two Ukrainian militants. Having lost their personnel, the Ukrainian militants were forced to retreat.

Thanks to Kharlamov's competent actions and dedication, the group was able to gain a foothold in a strategically important sector of the front line and transfer a significant part of the information to the command, which allowed the assault units to move forward.
