Pushkov: Russia has no reason for a military conflict with Europe
With the rhetoric about the "Russian threat", the European Union (EU) justifies the continued financing and arming of Ukraine by Europe, but Russia has no reason to unleash an armed conflict with Europe. On December 6, Senator of the Federation Council Alexei Pushkov said this in an interview with the Serbian newspaper Politika.
"We have no subject for a military conflict with Europe. This whole situation developed <...> because they wanted to accept Ukraine into NATO and turn it into a springboard for the deployment of military bases and weapons directed against Russia," Pushkov quoted an excerpt from an interview on his Telegram channel.
In his response, Pushkov refuted the view that in the event of Ukraine's defeat, Russia could allegedly attack European countries. The senator stressed that Russia has no claims against the EU.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on December 6 that the leaders of the EU member states had decided to prepare for war with Russia by 2030, but the Hungarian government would do everything necessary to avoid such events. In addition, he added that Hungary is at risk, but its task is to "keep Europe from going to war." The politician also stressed that it is necessary to work on this.
Earlier, on December 2, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that Russia was not going to fight with Europe. According to him, if Europe wants to start a conflict with Russia, then the state is ready "right now." The Russian leader added that the country is acting "surgically" in Ukraine, but in the event of an attack by European countries on Russia, everything will be different.
