- The future of medicine and treatment technology is discussed at the Skolkovo Health Forum
The future of medicine and treatment technology is being discussed at the Skolkovo School of Management. Experts, innovators and practitioners gathered there to assess the upcoming challenges and find the best way out. One of the topics of the event was the construction of an effective system in which a separate place is given to digital achievements, but the emphasis is on the patient. Igor Baldin, a correspondent of Izvestia, told more about the forum.
It is noted that the event is attended by politicians, doctors, geneticists and even students who can have a big conversation about the future of medicine and exchange ideas.
The future is connected with digitalization — more and more people are getting online access to medical documents and their medical history, as well as the development of artificial intelligence (AI). It helps to analyze X-rays and identify dangerous tumors.
"Artificial intelligence allows the doctor to identify relevant diseases at an early stage today, helps him to describe this picture. In addition, we are implementing an artificial intelligence system for analyzing electronic medical records, which allows any doctor to access this data," said Vadim Vankov, Deputy Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
It is clarified that earlier, in the Soviet years, everything worked according to the state plan, but now private initiative is welcomed in medicine, and science and business are increasingly cooperating to create new drugs and technologies.
"Partnership and mutual respect between generations, it seems to me, is the most important key for our successful development in the coming decades. The future of medicine belongs to projects," said Maria Vorontsova, Candidate of Medical Sciences, Deputy Director of the Lomonosov Moscow State University Institute of Medicine for Science, Leading Researcher at the National Research Institute of Endocrinology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, member of the Presidium of the Russian Association for the Promotion of Science of the Russian Federation.
In addition, in many ways, it was the symbiosis of science and business that contributed to the creation of personalized medicine, in which the drug is produced in a single copy. For example, at the National Research Institute of Hematology, drugs are created based on the patient's blood, thus it is possible to cure even leukemia.
"Every patient comes to us, we take blood cells from him, genetically modify them in our production, increase them and then inject them back into the patient, and force them, the patient's cells themselves, to fight directly with the tumor in his body," added the head of the Biomedical Technology Department, head of the Translational Immunology Laboratory, head of the Department of Biomedical The Center for High-Precision Genetic Technologies for Medicine of the National Research Medical Center of Hematology of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, Candidate of Biological Sciences.
The sanctions imposed on Russia have become a good incentive for the development of domestic medicine, from radiopharmaceuticals to bionics. However, the situation with medical equipment is a little more complicated — so far only one third is domestic, but the trend in this area is good.
"What is the task of healthcare to become? It is technologically advanced in order to solve the big demographic challenges that Russia faces," explained Marina Veldanova, Director of the Skolkovo Center for Healthcare Development.
It is noted that since 1995, the average life expectancy in the Russian Federation has increased by ten years, to 73.5. The forecast for 2035 is already 81 years old. This has become the main indicator of the development of domestic pharmacology and medicine.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said on November 7 that after the opening of the Nuclear Medicine Center in Kommunarka last year, patients had access to the most modern technologies in the field of cancer diagnosis and treatment. According to him, the center is equipped with a unique complex of three linear accelerators for performing ultra-precise remote 3D, 4D radiation therapy. The mayor stressed that the center was built using energy—efficient materials and technologies, and it has thought out medical logistics - optimal routes for patients and medical staff to carry out all diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
