"We are now preparing for a new series of the periodic table. The first elements are the 119th and 120th. We have been conducting this training for five years now. For this purpose, it was necessary to build a new laboratory, a new accelerator," the scientist said.

The 118th element of the table, Oganeson, is named in honor of Oganesyan. This case is the second in history when the name of a living scientist is assigned to an element. Despite these achievements, the scientist was not awarded the Nobel Prize. According to him, the absence of this award does not indicate poor performance, nor does it change the quality of scientific work.

"People confuse work with hustle and bustle, that is, a bonus. This is wrong. There is a prize, there is no prize — the quality of scientific work does not change from this. The prize is awarded by people, and this is often subjective," the academician noted.

In addition, speaking about the Periodic Table, Oganesyan added that it will change. He specified that it could have 175 elements in the final.
