Beauty reproaches: patients accuse cosmetologist from Dagestan of dangerous procedures
Dozens of women said they had suffered at the hands of a popular cosmetologist from Dagestan, Raisat Algasanova. As one of the victims told Izvestia, after liposuction, she almost died from blood loss, and when she returned to the clinic, she suffered a second time — she was beaten and threatened. After surgeries at the clinic owned by Algasanova, many girls were left without a part of their thigh or buttocks. Two patients are currently in intensive care, and at the end of November 2025, the girl died after allegedly being infected, former patients said. According to them, the cosmetologist has neither a medical education nor a license to perform surgical operations. Algasanova herself denies the claims. The details are in the Izvestia investigation.
What is the accusation of a cosmetologist from Dagestan
Several dozen clients of the famous Dagestani cosmetologist Raisat Algasanova said they had received serious injuries and complications after beauty procedures performed at her clinic. The victims claim that the woman performs cosmetic and surgical operations in her own clinic in Makhachkala without having a medical education and an appropriate license.
Polina from Grozny (name changed at the request of the victim) She told Izvestia that she had liposuction at the Algasanova Clinic at the end of 2022, and from the very beginning, the operation did not go according to plan.
— At the consultation, I was told that the operation would take four to five hours, but in the end it lasted ten. When I was taken to the operating unit, there were such conditions that I wanted to abandon the procedure. There was no equipment or monitors to monitor the condition during anesthesia. I started to panic. And they said: "Let's put her down, otherwise she talks too much," the girl recalls.
According to Polina, after the operation, she was almost immediately "kicked out" of the clinic, although she did not even have time to fully recover from anesthesia, and came to the procedure from another region. As a result, the patient had hemorrhagic shock, a critical condition that occurs due to severe blood loss.
— They somehow got me out of the hospital. I'm not talking about the aesthetic part at all — I have a lot of fibrosis (an overgrowth of scar tissue. — Ed.), bumps, knots, red spots and huge cross—shaped scars, - said Polina.
After unsuccessful liposuction, the girl discovered that instead of a service agreement, she was "given some kind of memo," and returned to the Algasanova Clinic to pick up this document.
— I remember that I signed the contract, but they didn't give it to me. When I came to the clinic and asked for a contract, four people attacked me — they locked me up, started beating my head against the wall and threatening me. They wanted to scare me so that I wouldn't complain. They said they would inject me with a drug so that they would find me as an addict. But someone in the building called the district police officer, and I immediately went to the police," the source said.
According to the girl, in February 2023, she submitted an application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, but still cannot bring Raisat Algasanova to criminal responsibility.
— She claims in court that she works as an eyebrow artist. She doesn't have a license, and her education has nothing to do with medicine at all, she's not even a nurse. She said it herself in court. And she has a diploma from Dagestan State University hanging in the clinic, of course, it's a piece of paper," the victim believes.
Izvestia sent a request to Roszdravnadzor asking for information on whether the Algasanova Clinic has a valid license to perform surgical procedures.
What the clinic's owner said
This story was made public by blogger Bariyat Uzbekova, who is popular in Dagestan. The girl told Izvestia that dozens of girls who had suffered at the hands of Algasanova had contacted her.
— I have a whole team of girls who are massively ready to write statements to the police. A lot of people were left without a part of their thigh or buttocks. One girl's mom is in intensive care right now. We want the whole country to hear about it, as people come from all over Russia. We will contact the Prosecutor General's Office, we want to check several criminal cases that have been initiated against her. But she got off with an administrative fine," the interviewee said.
The blogger claims that Raisat Algasanova "got herself a license so that they wouldn't find fault with her," and rents not a clinic, but one of the premises in the building.
Bariyat Uzbekova also reported on her blog that at the end of November 2025, a girl died in a hospital in the city of Grozny, after Raisat Algasanova allegedly "infected her" during surgery. Two more women, according to the blogger, are in intensive care.
"This time it won't be possible to bribe anyone, there's too much evidence. This woman is threatening the girls, allegedly, if they don't close the case, she will post their naked photos with their faces from the operation," the blogger writes on social networks.
As Izvestia found out, the doors of the Algasanova Clinic are now closed to clients, and appointments have been canceled. The owner denies all charges. Raisat Algasanova told Izvestia that she does not know the people who complain about her, and on social networks "one girl specifically spreads false information about her."
"My former patient advertised for me for four years, wrote a million thanks. She came to me with a weight of 113 kilograms, and I made her a perfect figure. Then she went to another doctor to remove the remaining fat and have an abdominoplasty (correction of the shape of the abdomen. — Ed.). And now, according to her, we are the worst doctors and our clinic is the worst," Raisat Algasanova said in her blog.
The cosmetologist denied the information that a patient died after the procedure in her clinic. According to Raisat Algasanova, this girl wanted to make an appointment with her, but did not have time.
"After the birth of the child, she had gynecological complications, and she died during surgery in Grozny," she wrote.
Who controls the activities of medical clinics
The main reason for the current situation is the gap between the demand for affordable cosmetology and surgical services and the government's ability to control each office or clinic, says Albert Khaleyan, a criminal defense lawyer and partner at the Vector Prime Moscow Bar Association.
"The legislation is strict, and a license for medical activity is required to perform medical procedures, especially surgical ones," he recalled. — The contractor must have an appropriate higher medical education and a specialist certificate.
Roszdravnadzor and the prosecutor's Office monitor this area, but they usually act on the statements of victims or on the results of routine inspections.
— The problem is that unlicensed activities are often disguised as "aesthetic", "cosmetology" or "wellness" services, which complicates control, — said the expert. — In addition, aggressive social media marketing creates the illusion of legitimacy.
Algasanova, if the charges are confirmed, may face criminal liability under the article on illegal medical activities, said Oleg Kim, partner of the Legal Advisor law office, lawyer of the Moscow City Arbitration Court.
"If it is proved that Algasanova carried out medical activities illegally, and a causal relationship is established between the operations and causing harm to the health of the patients or the onset of death, she faces up to five years in prison," the expert noted.
If it is established that the cosmetologist carried out her activities legally, then she faces from one to three years for causing death by negligence.
— In addition to criminal liability, civil liability is possible. Victims have the right to demand compensation for harm to health, moral damage, medical expenses, and so on, — Oleg Kim pointed out. — This may be a lawsuit with compensation.
The situation can be improved if the responsibility for illegal medical activities is tightened not only for the performers, but also for the owners of the premises provided for such services, Albert Haleyan believes. Creation of clear and public registers, where the patient could easily check the license and its type by the INN or the name of the clinic.
"It is necessary to establish closer cooperation between regulatory authorities and digital platforms to block advertising of services provided without a license," the expert believes.
Experts believe that legal education of patients can be another effective method.
