The Far Eastern Department of Rosprirodnadzor has filed a lawsuit to recover more than 6.5 million rubles from the port of Nakhodka for pollution of the bay. This is reported by the Telegram channel of the Arbitration Court of Primorsky Krai.

It follows from the statement of claim that Rosprirodnadzor specialists revealed the fact of clogging of the bay during an on-site inspection. Coal dust generated during coal transshipment was found between the ship's side and berths No. 11 and No. 12 along the entire length. It also polluted the structures on the berths themselves.

The staff of the specialized laboratory took samples of seawater. They revealed an excess of pollutants in terms of oil products, iron, and suspended solids.

The area of contamination was 300 square meters, the damage exceeded 6.5 million rubles, writes IA PrimaMedia. Rosprirodnadzor sent a letter to Nakhodka Commercial Sea Port JSC on voluntary compensation for damage, but the port did not comply with the requirement.

"Since this claim was left without satisfaction by the defendant, the plaintiff appealed to the Arbitration Court of Primorsky Krai with a statement of claim. The court hearing is scheduled for January 22, 2026," the court said in a Telegram channel message.
