- Rosatom has agreed a memorandum with India on the construction of new nuclear power plants
Rosatom State Corporation has agreed with India on a memorandum on the construction of new nuclear power plants (NPP). This was announced on December 5 by the head of the corporation Alexey Likhachev.
"We have agreed with the Indian side on a memorandum on the construction of new nuclear power units," Likhachev said in an interview with Channel One.
He noted that Rosatom is discussing with India the possibility of localizing the production of nuclear fuel for nuclear power plants. According to Likhachev, the state corporation also intends to develop cooperation with India on low-power nuclear power plants.
Yesterday, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that Russia has one of the greenest energy resources in the world. He stressed that the Russian energy sector includes hydropower, nuclear energy and gas energy, which, according to him, is the greenest among hydrocarbon sources.
On the same day, the Russian leader declared that Russia is the only country in the world capable of building and actually building small nuclear power plants. He also noted that the United States still buys fuel for nuclear power plants from Russia.
