It will be possible to see Russian Atom electric vehicles on the roads in the spring of 2026. This was told by the developers of the domestic model from the Kama startup, the press service of KamAZ PJSC (the Naberezhnye Chelny auto giant participates in the Atom project) reported on December 5.

Atom electric vehicles are planned to be produced in three versions: for private use, taxi and carsharing. The service centers will be located in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Nizhny Novgorod, Kazan, Naberezhnye Chelny and in eight to ten other cities of the country. There should be no problems with spare parts due to the warehouses, the company assured.

The Atom can travel up to 500 km on a single charge, and up to 350 km at -20 °C. The battery is charged in half an hour when connected to a "fast" station. The model features swing doors and a touchscreen display on the steering wheel.

There are no familiar speed control sensors, odometer, or temperature indicator in the cooling system, all of which are projected onto the windshield. There is also a voice assistant. The "emergency light" and the seat belt seat belt sensor are located above the rear-view mirror. The hatchback is equipped with a 204-horsepower electric motor on the rear axle, which allows you to accelerate from zero to "hundreds" in 8 seconds. and reach up to 170 km/h.

"The car has implemented a number of ideas of the KAMA-1 project, which was once handled by the KAMAZ Scientific and Technical Center: a screen built into the steering wheel, rear doors that open not forward, but in the opposite direction. The car is original, with a number of technical solutions that are not available in this class of cars. We hope that the owners of the car will appreciate them. Let's take the same display in the steering wheel: we need to understand whether such an idea will "shoot" or whether users will want a large screen on the dashboard," said Sergey Nazarenko, chief designer of innovative KAMAZ vehicles.

Earlier, on December 2, it was reported that the Russian Atom electric car would cost 3.9 million rubles excluding the state subsidy and 2.98 million rubles with it. In September, Atom passed certification and received Vehicle Type Approval, which allows it to begin mass production and sales in Russia.
