Five people were killed when a minibus collided with a truck near Chita.

In the Chita region of the Trans-Baikal Territory, two adults and three children were killed as a result of a collision between a minibus and a truck loaded with firewood. This is reported by the regional State Traffic Inspectorate.

The accident occurred on Friday, December 5, at 17:15 local time (11:15 Moscow time) on the federal highway R-258 Baikal, about 40 km from Chita. It was previously established that the driver of the SsangYong Istana minibus drove into oncoming traffic on the 1065th km of the road and crashed into a truck loaded with firewood.

Two adults and three children were killed in the accident. Two more people were taken to the hospital with injuries. According to the ChitaMedia news agency, all the dead and injured were in a minibus.

The regional Ministry of Emergency Situations writes in its Telegram channel that the victims were transported to the regional clinical hospital in Chita. Their condition is assessed as serious. Rescuers and a psychologist from the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations, ambulance crews, and traffic police officers worked at the scene of the accident.
