The state prosecution asked to appoint 20 years in a penal colony and 170 million rubles fine for the ex-chairman of the Rostov regional court Elena Zolotareva. The corresponding decision was made on December 5 by the Pervomaisky District Court of Krasnodar.

"According to the totality of crimes, by partially adding up the punishment, Zolotareva should be sentenced to imprisonment for a term of 20 years to be served in a general regime colony and with a fine of 170 million rubles," TASS quoted the prosecutor as saying.

In addition, the state prosecution petitioned the court for the confiscation of 18 million 400 thousand rubles, which Zolotareva received in the form of bribes.

The prosecutor asked Tatyana Yurova, the former deputy of the defendant, to impose a sentence of 18 years in prison to be served in a general regime colony, and a fine of 120 million rubles. Other defendants in the case are former chairman of the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Rostov—on-Don Georgy Bondarenko - 7 years in prison and 4 million rubles in fine, former head of the judicial Department of the Rostov region Andrey Roshchevsky — 10 years in prison and a fine of 50 million rubles.

The accused did not admit their guilt in the alleged crimes. The court adjourned the sessions until December 12.

In early April 2023, it became known about searches in a number of courts in Rostov-on-Don. It was reported that Zolotareva, her deputy Tatiana Yurova and seven other judges were among those who underwent investigative measures. In July of the same year, Zolotareva and Yurova were arrested in Moscow in a bribery case. In August, the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation recognized the initiation of proceedings against Zolotareva as legitimate.

In November 2023, the offices of Alexei Kudelin and Judge Vladimir Khudaverdyan were searched in the Leninsky Court of Rostov. Both were detained at their workplace, they worked under the patronage of Zolotareva. In September 2024, the Higher Qualification Board of Judges (HCCC) of Russia agreed to the arrest of Alexey Kudelin, ex-chairman of the Leninsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don. He is also a defendant in the Rostov judges' case and is accused of taking bribes worth 15 million rubles.
