A bill has been submitted to the State Duma, which proposes to tighten administrative liability for the illegal use of the "Disabled" sign on a vehicle, up to the deprivation of rights for up to three months. The document was published on December 5 in the electronic database of the lower house of parliament.

For example, it is proposed to impose a fine of 7,500 rubles for citizens, 20,000 rubles for officials and 500,000 rubles for legal entities for abuse of the "Disabled" sign, as well as to deprive them of their rights for repeated violations for up to three months.

The explanatory note says that recently the number of drivers who illegally use the "Disabled" sign to park for free in paid city parking areas has been growing. As a result, disabled drivers have to find other parking spaces or park for a fee.

"Real people with disabilities and their loved ones who transport them should not travel around social facilities in search of free parking spaces while they are occupied by impostors! If the current sanctions for such scammers are not effective, they need to be increased," Yaroslav Nilov, the author of the bill and chairman of the State Duma Committee on Labor, Social Policy and Veterans Affairs, wrote on his Telegram channel.

Currently, Article 12.4 of the Administrative Code provides for a fine of 5,000 rubles for the illegal installation of the "Disabled" identification mark, and there is no liability for the reuse of the mark.

The day before, it was reported that the State Duma rejected a bill that proposed to ban the sale of alcoholic beverages in roadside cafes near federal, regional and inter-municipal highways.
