Choosing the right car at the start largely determines the financial result, because it is at the purchase stage that future profits are formed. Andrey Ermakov, an expert in transport project management and logistics, told Izvestia on December 6 how to benefit from the purchase and sale of a car.
"The main costs appear where the risks are not taken into account. In such cases, defects are identified, expensive parts are required, delivery delays and problems with documents occur. All this quickly turns the expected benefit into a loss," the expert explained.
Therefore, before bidding at an auction or signing a contract, it is necessary to evaluate the full economy: the cost of spare parts, the amount of work, repair time, logistics, customs payments and the projected price of the car after restoration. If the calculations do not agree, it is better to abandon the purchase — the winner is not the one who buys at any price, but the one who does not get involved in a loss-making deal on time. According to Ermakov, it is more important to control emotions: the attractive appearance of the car should not turn the process into excitement.
He drew attention to the fact that typical mistakes in the market have been repeated for years. Buyers often rely on photos and descriptions, do not check the VIN and technical data, and start repairs without a clear plan and time control, which increases the budget and reduces the final sale price. Problems also arise in logistics, when inconsistent delivery, downtime in warehouses, and carrier sanctions eat into margins. In addition, the lack of control over contractors often leads to the fact that the owner has to pay for other people's mistakes.
"An effective project is based on a systematic approach: each stage is planned and controlled. The main role in this process is not car repair, but the organization of the entire process.: procurement, logistics and procurement, contractor coordination and sales strategy. This approach allows companies to expand purchases, accelerate the turnover of funds and reduce costs," the expert emphasized.
The specialist also added that the sale of a car requires the same level of preparation as the purchase of repairs. Honest photos, detailed description, transparent service history, the right site and location region allow you to sell the car quickly and at a market price, without dumping. The seller's task is not to interfere with the process if the car is prepared correctly.
The expert concluded that working with cars always starts with calculations. First the analysis, then the solution. If the economics of the project do not work out, the deal should be abandoned. When decisions are based on real data, the result remains stable and predictable.
