NATO noted Russia's success in using naval drones
Western experts have acknowledged that Russia has made "significant progress" in the development and use of unmanned vessels. This was stated on December 5 in a review of the NATO Military College, which was reviewed by TASS.
Analysts recalled that on August 28, the Russian Federation used unmanned boats to attack, sinking the Ukrainian warship Simferopol. The document says that the Russian military is using "changing global circumstances" as a signal for wider deployment of naval drones.
NATO noted that in the future, ships transferred to Kiev by Western countries may become targets for Russian unmanned boats.
On August 28, the Russian Ministry of Defense published footage of the destruction of the Simferopol reconnaissance ship of the Ukrainian Navy by a Russian crew boat. At the same time, Dmitry Pletenchuk, a representative of the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), acknowledged the defeat of one of the country's warships.
In turn, Denis Fedutinov, an expert in the field of unmanned aircraft, said that for the first time Russian military personnel were able to sink a ship of the Ukrainian Navy with the help of a back-up. He stressed that unmanned boats represent a promising area for the development of military equipment and asymmetric weapons.
