The media reported on the meeting of the Belgian parliament with an ovation of the decision on the assets of the Russian Federation

Members of the Belgian Parliament received an ovation from Prime Minister Bart De Wever, who confirmed his refusal to transfer frozen Russian assets under the control of the European Commission (EC). This is evidenced by the footage of the speech, which was published on December 4 by the VRT TV channel.

De Wever stressed that the Belgians remain loyal Europeans and fully support Ukraine, but he is not acting in the interests of Russia. However, according to him, Belgium should not be asked to do the impossible, referring to the European Commission's plan to expropriate Russian assets as part of a "reparation loan" scheme for Ukraine.

The Prime Minister also added that for the approval of the European Commission's plan, Belgium will require legal guarantees from all EU countries in order to fully share the financial risks. He also demanded that all of Russia's frozen sovereign assets in other EU countries be expropriated on the same terms as in Belgium.
