The US Department of War has admitted that Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth posted classified information on the Signal messenger about American air strikes on Yemeni Houthi positions. This was reported on December 3 by NBC News, citing sources.

"The information that Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth shared in the Signal group chat about the upcoming military operation in Yemen is considered classified," the publication says.

The document contains the results of the investigation, which lasted more than eight months, and concerns the relevant incident. It also states that Hegseth violated the rules of the Pentagon by using his personal phone for official purposes.

On March 24, The Atlantic published an article in which the editor reported that he had accidentally been added to a group chat in the Signal messenger, where there was a discussion of the upcoming strikes on Yemen on March 15. Information about the strikes appeared in the chat two hours before the attacks began. This forced the team of US President Donald Trump to look for excuses. It later turned out that Hegseth had duplicated information about the strikes in Yemen in a chat that included members of his family.

On March 26, the American human rights organization American Oversight filed a lawsuit in the Federal court of the District of Columbia against the head of the Pentagon. In response, Trump said that Hegseth had nothing to do with the incident, and also said that he was not going to fire anyone from his team after the scandalous leak of messages from the group chat.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
