Zakharova: Russia is preparing retaliatory measures in case of theft of Russian assets by the EU

The Russian side's retaliatory measures will be a surprise to the European Union in the event of the confiscation of frozen assets of the Russian Federation for Ukraine. This was announced on December 4 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"They'll find out. There will be a surprise," TASS quoted her as saying.

Zakharova also called this decision inadequate and stressed that such actions could cause maximum damage to the European Union.

The day before, the European Commission approved a "potential reparation loan" for Kiev, which implies the expropriation of sovereign Russian assets in Europe. Russian President Vladimir Putin said on November 27 that the confiscation of Russian assets located in the European Union would have negative consequences. In particular, the Russian government, on behalf of the head of state, is developing a package of retaliatory measures.
