The State Duma reacted to Xi Jinping's statement on Ukraine
China is trying to denigrate countries opposed to a peaceful settlement of the conflict in Ukraine. Alexey Chepa, Deputy Chairman of the State Duma's International Affairs Committee, expressed this opinion on Thursday, December 4, commenting on Chinese President Xi Jinping's statement that China opposes attempts to denigrate Beijing in the context of the Ukrainian conflict.
The parliamentarian noted that China, like many other countries, is in favor of a peaceful settlement.
"Those who do not want a peaceful settlement to take place and happen are trying to denigrate him. There have been statements from Kiev that China is actively helping Russia. Anyone who interacts with Russia today will be blamed, and there will be more such countries now," the deputy said in a conversation with Lenta.Ru .
Chepa added that Italy and other countries are beginning to change their positions on the Ukrainian crisis.
Earlier in the day, Xi Jinping said during a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron that China condemns all irresponsible accusations against Beijing in the context of the conflict in Ukraine and will continue to make a constructive contribution to its settlement. He expressed the hope that the parties to the conflict will be able to achieve a just and sustainable peace through dialogue and negotiations, the conditions of which will be acceptable to all parties concerned, Regnum news agency reports.
In addition, he noted that China and France must show responsibility in the face of large-scale changes, raise the banner of multipolarity high, break through the darkness and fog, and stand firmly on the right side of history.
On December 3, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said at a meeting with Russian Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu that Beijing supports all efforts to achieve peace in Ukraine, RT reports.
