Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on December 4 that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's decision to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin at the ramp was unexpected.

"Prime Minister Modi himself came to meet Putin. It was a decision that was made suddenly," he shared.

Peskov added that Moscow did not know about this.

Putin arrived in India on the evening of December 4 for a two-day state visit. Modi personally met the Russian president at the head of the plane, after which the Russian leader was greeted at the airport with the classical Indian dance Bharat natya.

Then Putin and Modi went to an informal meeting in the same car. Their negotiations began in the car.

On the eve of his visit, Putin gave an interview to Indian journalists, where he stated that Moscow and New Delhi have a large-scale plan for cooperation, including in the technological sphere, space, and nuclear energy. In addition, the Russian leader said that he has not only business but also personal relations with Modi.
