Roskomnadzor announced the blocking of Snapchat

Roskomnadzor (RCN) has taken measures to block the SnapChat service due to its use of the app to organize terrorist activities, the agency's press service reported on December 4.

"According to law enforcement agencies, SnapChat is used to organize and carry out terrorist actions in the country, recruit their perpetrators, commit fraudulent and other crimes against our citizens," the report says.

The RCN added that the blocking measures were taken on October 10, 2025.

Earlier that day, Roskomnadzor announced that the agency had begun restricting the operation of Facetime, a video calling service on Apple devices. The RCN explained that the restrictions are imposed for the safety of citizens.
