The agenda of the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not been disclosed in the interests of developing trade relations. Alexey Kupriyanov, head of the Center for the Indian Ocean Region of the Russian Academy of Sciences, told Izvestia about this on December 4.

"The visit itself is important as a return to the normal format of bilateral relations, which implies regular visits at the highest level. This practice was interrupted first by covid, then by the Ukrainian conflict," the political scientist noted.

At the same time, the indologist added that she is now recovering.

"The leaders are likely to discuss a wide range of issues, from economic to cultural cooperation, but business likes silence, especially in the current conditions, so not all agreements will immediately get into the press," the expert summed up.

On the same day, in an interview with the Indian TV channel India Today before the start of his visit to New Delhi, Putin noted that over 90% of mutual trade between Russia and India is carried out in national currencies. He added that despite the existing difficulties and restrictions in trade, the parties have solutions to overcome them.

In the same interview, the Russian leader said that Russia and India have a large-scale plan for cooperation in the future, including in the technological sphere, space, and nuclear energy. He added that the countries' relations are developing in many areas.

Prior to that, on December 3, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the political dialogue between Moscow and New Delhi was very active, and Putin's upcoming visit to India would enhance friendly relations between the two countries. Ushakov added that the parties attach great importance to Putin's upcoming visit to India and count on its success.
