The Russian delegation came to India for goods and services, and following the visit, Moscow intends to multiply supplies from India. This was announced on December 4 by Maxim Oreshkin, Deputy head of the Presidential Administration, during the Russian-Indian Business Forum in New Delhi.

"The Russian delegation and business came and are here today with a very specific purpose, namely, we came for Indian goods and services, we want to multiply their purchases. This is not some momentary story, but a strategic choice for the development of relations between the third and fourth economies of the world," Oreshkin said.

Currently, India's share in Russian imports does not exceed 2%, and therefore it is important to take a step forward in trade and economic relations between the two countries, transform the structure of mutual commodity flows and make trade more balanced, he added.

"This will not only ensure that the task of bringing trade turnover to around $100 billion by 2030 is solved. This is the goal that was announced by the leaders of the two countries. <...> It is clear that this is a movement of the current $ 60 billion in trade turnover to $ 100 billion, it will occur mainly due to an increase in supplies of Indian goods and services to the Russian market," said the deputy head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.

Russia is ready to provide favorable conditions for the import of goods from India, including in settlements, he added. There are six key groups among the areas in which India is strong and of great interest to Russia. The maximum increase in supplies is expected among consumer goods, food and agricultural products, medicines, telecommunications equipment and the IT sector, components for the Russian industry, as well as labor resources.

The Russian-Indian Business Forum is taking place in New Delhi on December 4-5. The event is co-organized by the Roscongress Foundation and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (FICCI).

Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an interview with the Indian TV channel India Today before the start of his visit to New Delhi, noted that over 90% of mutual trade between Russia and India is carried out in national currencies. He added that despite the existing difficulties and restrictions in trade, the parties have solutions to overcome them.

In addition, Russia and India have a large-scale cooperation plan for the future, including in the technological sphere, space, and nuclear energy, the Russian leader said. He added that relations between Russia and India are developing in many areas.
