Russia and India are strengthening their economic partnership, focusing on increasing trade turnover and launching new areas of cooperation. This was stated on December 4 by the Minister of Economic Development of the Russian Federation Maxim Reshetnikov, answering a question from Izvestia.

He noted that one of the priorities of the Russian-Indian Business Forum is to increase imports of Indian goods. According to Reshetnikov, the Indian industry is showing serious progress, and Russia should actively integrate these products into its own projects.

"Our task is to introduce Indian goods, including consumer goods, but also industrial and investment goods, to Russian importers and the Russian economy," he said at the opening of VTB's branch in India.

The minister also added that the development of tourism could become a "potentially powerful growth point" in relations between the two countries.

"We need to reach an agreement either on group visa-free travel, most likely, this is the main mechanism that we offer to our colleagues. Both the Chinese side and the Iranian side started with this at the time. And it gave a very powerful impetus," said Reshetnikov.

Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said on December 3 that the political dialogue between Moscow and New Delhi is very active, and Putin's upcoming visit to India will help boost friendly relations between the two countries. Ushakov added that the parties attach great importance to Putin's upcoming visit to India and count on its success.
