Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Chairman of the Russian Military Historical Society (RVIO) Vladimir Medinsky said that he was surprised to learn about the existence of capybaras, as for a long time he believed that they were just children's toys. He announced this on December 2 in an interview with TASS.

"I used to think that capybara was the name of soft toys, something as furry as Cheburashka. But recently I found out that a capybara is an animal. My daughter enlightened me and showed me the photos," the agency quoted him as saying.

According to Medinsky, now he plans to get acquainted with capybaras and go on an excursion with his daughter to see these animals with his own eyes.

"Live and learn forever," he said.

In June, French President Emmanuel Macron posted a video from the G7 summit on TikTok, overlaying the popular Russian track "Capybara". The footage shows how the leaders of the participating countries pass under the track for a joint photo.
