A "collector" of keys who had been robbing garages for several years was detained in Kuzbass.

In the Kemerovo region, a local resident collected keys and lock picks for several years to open and rob garages, he was detained. This was announced on December 4 by the official representative of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia Irina Volk in her Telegram channel.

"A multi-episode criminal case is being investigated. The man's involvement in 18 cases of embezzlement, the damage of which amounted to about 1 million rubles, has been preliminarily established. The defendant was given a preventive measure in the form of detention. Currently, the police are returning the seized items to their rightful owners," the publication says.

According to reports, for several years the defendant has been "collecting" keys, of which he has accumulated more than a thousand. He took out valuables and locked the doors behind him, and stored the loot in his garage.

In October, law enforcement agencies detained participants in a robbery. According to the Russian Interior Ministry, four intruders in balaclavas entered an apartment building in the village of Zhabkino. They locked the woman and her three children in the bathroom, and the owner of the house was tied up with belts. As a result, the defendants stole money worth more than 57 million rubles, after which they disappeared.
