Russia may postpone the date of inclusion in the National calendar of preventive vaccinations of vaccines against rotavirus infection, chickenpox, human papillomavirus (HPV) and meningococcal infection, RBC reported on December 4, referring to a draft government decree prepared by the Ministry of Health.

"The strategy implementation plan contains step—by-step measures that are carried out taking into account the planned production dates for the full cycle of these vaccines in the Russian Federation," the press service of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation reports.

The document prepared by the Ministry of Health introduces changes to the strategy for the development of immunoprophylaxis of infectious diseases until 2035. According to the draft, the date of inclusion of the rotavirus vaccine in the National Vaccination Calendar is postponed from 2025 to 2029. Vaccination against chickenpox will be postponed from 2027 to 2031, against HPV — from 2026 to 2027, and against meningococcal infection — from 2025 to 2027.

State Duma deputy, member of the Health Committee Yulia Drozhzhina reported on September 22 that vaccination against human papillomavirus had been proposed to be included in the national vaccination calendar, and now the procedure is available under compulsory medical insurance (MHI) only in certain regions. According to the deputy, vaccination is most effective at the age of 11-12 years, it reduces the risk of infection and the development of cancer.
