The Red Wings Boeing 777 aircraft successfully landed at Domodedovo Airport after an emergency U-turn and return to the departure point due to a technical malfunction. This was announced on December 3 by the representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency Artem Korenyako.

"On Wednesday, December 3, at 22:53 Moscow time, a Red Wings Boeing 777 aircraft landed safely at Domodedovo Airport," he wrote on his Telegram channel.

It is specified that 425 people, including 13 crew members and 412 passengers, were on board the flight heading from Moscow to Phuket resort in Thailand. There were no casualties as a result of the incident.

According to a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency, the aircraft commander decided to return to the departure airport after a malfunction was detected in one of the engines. Based on preliminary data, this incident was classified as an aviation accident. The commission of the Central Interregional Territorial Administration (CTA) of the Federal Air Transport Agency will investigate the incident and establish all the circumstances.

A source from Izvestia reported earlier that day that the cause of the emergency landing of the Boeing 777 was an engine fire.
