Skier Korostelev defended the Norwegians in the doping scandal
On December 3, Russian skier Savely Korostelev defended Norwegian skiers suspected of manipulating therapeutic asthma exemptions, saying it was ridiculous to see only asthmatics in the success of Norwegians.
"We have people shouting that all Norwegians are asthmatics, they have Russians on doping, backing this up with stories from a million years ago. Stones are thrown in both directions. To see only asthmatics in their successes is ridiculous," he said in an interview with Sports.
He also commented on the statements of some Norwegian skiers who accuse athletes from the Russian Federation of using doping. According to him, such statements are made thoughtlessly. Korostelev noted that Russians are systematically tested, information about this, as the skier added, can be found freely available.
On December 2, Russian Sports Minister Mikhail Degtyarev announced that the Court of Arbitration for Sport had granted an appeal against the decision not to allow Russians to participate in the tournaments of the International Ski and Snowboard Federation. Now the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) is obliged to allow Russian athletes to participate in international competitions.
