The Russian Ambassador to Washington called for cooperation between Russia and the United States in combating threats

Russia and the United States should cooperate in the fight against challenges and threats to humanity. This was announced on December 3 by Russian Ambassador to Washington Alexander Darchiev during a speech at the opening ceremony of the exhibition "Restoring the Memory of War Heroes" in the capital of the United States.

"The exhibition that opens today serves as a reminder to all of us that Russia and the United States can and should cooperate in the fight against challenges and threats to humanity," TASS quoted him as saying.

The diplomat also called Russia and the United States superpowers that bear special responsibility for the fate of the world. Darchiev stressed that the two countries should cooperate in the interests of humanity.

The ambassador added that this exhibition serves as a reminder that Moscow and Washington can cooperate with each other, as it was during the years of the struggle against fascism in World War II.

Earlier, on October 26, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, said that the possibility of building a tunnel between Russia and Alaska was being discussed. However, he did not disclose the details of the project.

Earlier, on October 23, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova recalled that the idea of building a tunnel between Russia and the United States had its development even at the end of the 19th century. She noted that for the first time such an idea was voiced at the beginning of the twentieth century. She clarified that later this idea was recalled as a possible symbol that could make it possible to establish relations between the USSR and the United States.
