Bloomberg learned about the US use of copies of Iranian attack drones
The Pentagon has begun deploying attack drones based on the Iranian Shahed-136 model. This was reported by Bloomberg on December 3.
"[Arizona-based company] SpektreWorks has developed a system by reverse engineering the Iranian drone Shahed—136," the publication says.
Such actions are explained by the desire of the United States to develop cheaper military technologies. Thus, the cost of producing Iranian drones is about $ 35 thousand, while the creation of the American model MQ-9 Reaper is estimated at $ 30 million.
Earlier, on November 29, The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper stated that US President Donald Trump's fight against drug trafficking from Latin America has opened up major opportunities for defense startups that have adapted military technologies to the tasks of anti-drug operations. It was noted that as the U.S. campaign in the Caribbean and the southern border intensified, demand for drones, sensors, and artificial intelligence (AI) grew rapidly. For example, Shield AI drones were used in the record seizure of 60,000 pounds of cocaine, and using their V-BAT model.
