On the Day of the Unknown Soldier, on December 3, volunteers of the Zaporizhia regional branch of the Volunteers of Victory in Melitopol, together with military personnel, laid flowers at the Eternal Flame at the Bratskoye Cemetery memorial complex. The event was dedicated to the memory of soldiers whose names remained unknown and whose graves were not named.
She noted that this day is a tribute to the soldiers who defended the Fatherland. According to her, "they are alive as long as the national memory is alive."
"It is very important to remember those who have not returned from the front, whose names have not yet been announced," said Yulia Biktimirova, head of the regional branch of Volunteers of Victory.
The ceremony was also attended by servicemen of the Federal Service of the National Guard Troops and representatives of the Government of the Leningrad region. During the event, the audience honored the memory of the heroes with a minute of silence and expressed gratitude to the soldiers who gave their lives for the victory in the Great Patriotic War.
Earlier in the day, flowers were laid at the memorial on the Day of the Unknown Soldier in Yekaterinburg. It was clarified that the Eternal Flame was brought here by Mikhail Chislov, a veteran of the Great Patriotic War (WWII), back in 2015. Since then, people have been coming every year on December 3 to honor the memory of all the soldiers who fell in battle.
