Voronezh court increased the sentence of an American for assaulting FSIN officers
The Central District Court of Voronezh has extended the sentence of Robert Gilman, a US citizen accused of assaulting employees of the Federal Penitentiary Service (FSIN). This was announced on November 3 by Gilman's lawyer Irina Brazhnikova.
The court added two more years of imprisonment to the previously imposed eight-year sentence for the American citizen.
"We will not appeal. He will have another criminal case, another episode, but this will be considered separately," TASS quoted her as saying.
Earlier, on October 3, the state prosecution asked the court to add Gilman's sentence for committing new crimes, assigning nine years and one month in prison.
In January 2022, Gilman was detained and taken to the duty station in Voronezh for a drunken brawl on the Sukhum–Moscow train. The man interfered with public order and kicked a police officer several times. A criminal case was opened against the American, and in October 2022, the Voronezh Court sentenced him to 4.5 years in a penal colony. Then the US citizen stated that he had become a "victim of political repression."
