Group chats have long been an integral part of everyday life. They discuss important family and work issues, share their impressions, or just chat. The opportunity to create a conversation also exists in the Russian messenger MAX. Read about how to do this in the Izvestia article.
How to create a group chat in the MAX messenger
Any user with an account registered to a Russian or Belarusian phone number can create a group chat in MAX. The procedure is the same for both the mobile and desktop versions of the application, and it does not take much time.
Step-by-step instructions:
- Open the app and click on the "plus" icon in the upper-right corner.;
- In the menu, select the option "Create a group chat";
- Mark future participants in the contact list and click "Continue" (you can skip this step and add people later);
- Come up with a name and upload a photo, then click "Create Chat".
The chat is ready, now you can chat freely in it, share photos, videos, files and voice messages. Immediately after creation, it is recommended to set up access rights, allowing only administrators to add new participants — this will protect the conversation from spam and unwanted guests.
How to add people to a group chat in MAX
There are two main ways to add people to a group chat in MAX — by using a link or QR code, or from a contact list. The first one is suitable for both users of the Russian messenger and for foreign platforms, but only chat administrators can use it.
How to add people to a MAX group chat using the link
- Open the desired chat;
- Click on its name at the top of the screen;
- Select the option "Invite by link" or "Show QR code";
- Send the received link or image to any messenger.
How to add people to a MAX group chat via a contact list
- Log in to the chat and click on its name;
- In the menu, select "Add participants";
- Select one or more people from the list;
- Confirm the action with the "Add" button.
How to transfer correspondence from another messenger to MAX
You cannot completely transfer correspondence from other messengers to MAX, but you can upload old messages to a new chat in zip archive format. To do this, you need:
- Go to the settings of the donor messenger;
- Go to the "Chats" section;
- Click "Export chat" (in some messengers, this feature is only available for desktop versions);
- Select the desired dialog;
- Specify the type of export (with or without media files);
- Click the "Send with" button and select the MAX icon.;
- Specify the recipient (for example, your chat with a friend).
The correspondence will be delivered as an archive containing a text file and all attachments. You can open it, save it to your device, or forward it.
Group chat options in MAX
Group chats in the MAX messenger provide users with ample opportunities for communication. The maximum number of participants in each conversation is 1,000 people. This allows you to create not only family or work conversations, but also large thematic communities, for example, for fans of music, sports or gardening.
The chat owner can also appoint administrators. To do this, in the "Administrators" section, click "Add administrator", select the responsible person and determine their rights: deleting messages, adding and excluding participants, etc. It is also possible to create a private chat where only administrators can write, and other users only read messages, as in the channel.
What else is there in MAX group chats?
- voice messages and video clips;
- file sharing of any type up to 4 GB in size (videos, presentations, documents);
- surveys;
- reactions to messages and stickers;
- group audio and video calls with no limit on the number of participants.
In order not to get confused in numerous conversations, you can sort chats by folders and enable audio notifications only for the most important ones.
