Vladimir Golubev, President of the Russian Cynological Federation, told Izvestia on December 3 why a pet needs shoes and how to get an animal used to them.

"Almost no dog starts wearing shoes the first time. First, there are awkward movements, attempts to get rid of an incomprehensible object. Therefore, a pet should be accustomed to such an element of the wardrobe in advance, or look for alternative solutions," he said.

It is better to teach a pet to something at an early age, while the puppy is still absorbing information well and is open to everything new. If the puppy's paw is still too small for shoes, you can replace it with socks so that the pet gets used to the fact that there may be something on his paws.

"If a dog doesn't want to walk in shoes at all, or shoes are constantly flying off, even with the best fastening, there are several solutions. You can replace shoes with disposable shoe covers for animals. Sometimes it's much easier to walk in them," suggested Golubev.

It is also worth trying to consider the option of shoes with suspenders so that they do not fall off. The easiest alternative is to use protective wax before walking. This option is suitable for everyone, says the expert.

Winter walks should be comfortable for the dog. If she is cold or something is bothering her, the pet may refuse to go outside. Therefore, it is important to find a compromise. Shoes are really the most modern and safe solution to protect the pads of the paws. But you shouldn't torture your pet either. If the shoes do not fit into the dog's life in any way, you need to try to look for the best option.
