A Moscow court on Wednesday, December 3, sentenced writer Grigory Chkhartishvili in absentia. (pseudonym — Boris Akunin, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign agent, included in the list of terrorists and extremists of Rosfinmonitoring) to one year in prison in the second criminal case.

Together with the previous sentence, he was sentenced to 15 years in prison.

On the same day, Izvestia reported that the state prosecution had asked the court to sentence Akunin to one year in prison in absentia. According to investigators, Chkhartishvili, who was twice brought to administrative responsibility within one year for violating the legislation on foreign agents, posted at least 76 publications on social networks between February and August 2025, without specifying his status as a foreign agent.
