Euractiv announced the cancellation by Kiev of the visit of the EP delegation due to the deputy of the AfD

The Ukrainian authorities canceled the visit of a delegation from the European Parliament (EP) dedicated to defense policy issues due to the participation of a deputy from the German Alternative for Germany (AfD) party. This was announced on December 3 by the Euractiv portal.

"Kiev has decided to cancel meetings scheduled for this week — including visits to sensitive military installations — due to the presence of Hans Neuhoff from the AfD. Neuhoff is a member of the far—right Europe of Sovereign Nations (ESN) group in the European Parliament," the publication says.

It is indicated that after Ukraine asked to exclude the deputy from the list, other invited members of parliament themselves appealed to Neuhoff to cancel the trip.

Several members of the European Parliament warned the chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Security and Defense (SEDE), of which the deputy from AFD, Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmerman, is a member, that the composition of the delegation could cause dissatisfaction with official Kiev, the article says.

It is clarified that the trip has not yet been completely canceled and may take place later with a modified train.

Earlier, on November 28, AFD deputy Markus Fronmaier criticized the aid to Ukraine at the expense of the German debt. According to him, Germany is currently unable to fully ensure the defense of its own country, but at the same time it has allocated about €72 billion to Kiev. The deputy stressed that in foreign policy, the German authorities should be guided not by moral principles, but by "interests and real politics."
