Axios talked about the financing of the Trump presidency by rich Americans
US President Donald Trump is attracting the richest Americans to finance his presidency. Axios portal reported about it on December 3.
"Private wealth has become an operational tool of the Trump presidency, financing pet projects and policies on a scale unseen by any previous administration," the publication says.
It is specified that taxpayers' money can be saved on some projects, among them the construction of a new ballroom of the White House. At the same time, there is a danger that the government will be more accountable to private patrons than to public interests.
According to Axios, Trump's 2025 inaugural committee raised a record $245 million, which is almost three times more than the amount he raised in 2017 during his first term, as well as four times more than former US President Joe Biden raised in 2021.
Bloomberg reported in March that American billionaires who attended the inauguration of the current head of the White House have lost $209 billion since he took office. It was noted that since the end of January 2025, American businessman Elon Musk has lost about $148 billion, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has lost $29 billion, and the head of Meta (recognized as extremist and banned in Russia) Mark Zuckerberg lost $5 billion.
